Work Responsibilities

As a Marine Electrician, you’ll install, maintain, and repair all electrical systems and components on a boat. You’ll design and install the wiring to deliver power throughout the vessel and work on the electrical components of marine generators. To master your craft, pursue the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) certifications.

On the Job Training

The Marine Trades Industry Partnership is a paid, on-the-job training program for young workers starting their career. The ideal candidate is 18 to 24 with a strong desire to succeed and work around boats and water. Candidates will gain confidence from learning their trade, security from knowing their skill cannot be outsourced, and motivation from excellent pay and upward mobility.
