Job Description
Marine Service Technician
Detail-Oriented | Self-Starter | Problem Solver
About Us
We are a small, specialized marine service company focused on delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional client service. Our reputation is built on attention to detail, clear communication, and making sure every client request is handled thoroughly and professionally.
If you take pride in doing things the right way and enjoy solving complex marine system challenges, we want to talk to you.
Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile Marine Service Technician who excels at troubleshooting, installation, and problem-solving across a wide range of marine systems. This is not an engine mechanic role — it’s a hands-on, jack-of-many-trades position for someone comfortable working across electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and onboard instrumental systems.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, follows through without being micromanaged, and communicates proactively with both teammates and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and onboard instrumental system issues
- Install and service marine electronics (GPS, sonar, lighting, battery systems, 12v and 24v systems etc.)
- Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and custom installations
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional workspaces
- Communicate clearly with management and clients about findings, timelines, and recommendations
- Provide consistent follow-up to ensure client satisfaction
- Document work thoroughly and accurately
- Identify potential issues before they become problems
What We’re Looking For
- Strong troubleshooting mindset — someone who enjoys figuring things out
- High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- Comfortable working in tight spaces and marine environments
- Dependable, punctual, and accountable
Experience & Skills
- 2+ years of marine or related mechanical/electrical experience preferred
- Solid understanding of 12V/24V electrical systems
- Experience installing marine electronics (e.g., Garmin, Simrad) a plus
- Familiarity with pumps, steering systems, battery systems, and marine hardware
- ABYC certification is a plus (not required)
- Valid driver’s license required
Why This Role is Different
In a small company, every team member matters. You won’t be “just a tech” — you’ll be a key part of delivering the quality and service our clients expect. Your work, communication, and follow-through directly impact our reputation.
If you want autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to take ownership of your work, this position offers that.
