Jobs and Career Training

“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius

If you love the water, boats or boating, why not get paid for doing what you love? The recreational boating industry offers excellent job prospects for young people entering the labor market—on board, in ports and in offices.

Because the industry is so flexible, workers can easily move among jobs throughout their professional career. If you or someone you know is looking for a new career, or just getting started in their career, or unemployed, the boating industry needs you.

The Marine Trades Industry Partnership for JOBS TODAY

With a grant from EARN Maryland (Employment Advancement Right Now), MTAM has formed the Marine Trades Industry Partnership with the mission of building a sustainable workforce for the marine trades in Maryland. The Partnership consists of employers in the boating industry, local workforce development professionals and educators.

The program consists of recruiting young people to the industry, training them in a 6-week on-the-job practicum, training the industry’s incumbent workers, matching workers to immediate job openings and train-the-trainer sessions for the employers. On the horizon is the development of a full Apprenticeship program for the boating industry in Maryland.
